History of Major Gifts

In 2005, Eugene Bell and Millicent Bell donated $1,000,000 to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to establish the Eugene Bell Career Development Professorship of Tissue Engineering.

In 2006, Eugene Bell and Millicent Bell donated $400,000 to the Marine Biological Laboratory to endow the Eugene and Millicent Bell Fellowship Fund in Tissue Engineering. This fellowship provides a yearly award to selected postdoctoral fellows and/or graduate students, including those enrolled in the Brown/MBL Graduate Program in the Biological and Environmental Sciences.

In 2007, Millicent Bell and Eugene Bell contributed $500,000 to New York University to support graduate students in English and American literature.

In 2010, Millicent Bell made a leadership gift of $8,000,000 to establish the Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

In 2010, the Foundation pledged $1,250,000 to WGBH Educational Foundation to support research and development of future productions of NOVA and FRONTLINE, as well as the improvement of NOVA's online resources.

In 2011, the Foundation pledged $200,000 to LinkTV to help defray the cost of acquiring foreign feature films and documentaries for its media library.
